How are you Mr. Berkeley?
This is my thank you letter in style
September 2008…I haven’t talked to you in a while
Personally your personality has really touched me,
Through photographs, remembrances and your foundation so true
Definitely through Mrs. Berkeley and your two special “men” Eric and Jason
Even people who have not had the pleasure of meeting you!
Your vibes seem so effervescent
If only for a second, God were to allow us to meet
I know it would be much more than just a simple meet & greet
More like a 3 hour conversation, starting from the first tee
Discussing how to just be…
Fearless, and defeat hate
Taking the concepts of God, love and golf
And allow those to mate.
After a few holes I’d make a conscious effort to study your B-isms & character
Because it isn’t common to find someone following their passion
Even while grasping precious assets and obtaining a career, friends and family
Speaking of, Mrs. Lourdes Berkeley has really meant a lot to me
Her random emails, inquiring if I am doing well
My future plans and asking if in any way she can help
You two share the same characteristics, that’s not hard to tell
…Nine holes already, (whoa) that was pretty fast
So much more to talk about so I cherish this time while it last…

The money helps a lot but the support means much more
A lot of gratitude is due to the selfless board
They voluntarily help grow our seeds of future leaders, community oriented civilians and
legendary athletes
Their time keeps us growing so we can chart a course of legendary legacy
Today’s scholars will be the sponsors of tomorrow…
Well not literally tomorrow
Our pockets are probably hollow as just college interns
But in turn, after we learn, we earn,
Then invest in this fire so these flames continue to burn
This road of life can sometimes be hard
Obstacles, distractions, people waiting to see us fall
No longer proving people wrong
I want to prove Christ right
Lining his point of view with my eye sight
So I strive high to fulfill his Deztany…
